Over five years with The Instant Group, we achieved a 45.2% lift in conversions through iterative improvements. As the market evolved, our next challenge was to build on that success and drive deeper innovation.

The challenge

With our partnership history we understood key business performance metics and how the SEO optimised content structure is critical to organic Google traffic. We also had a clear understanding of the sites data model.

We identified a range of user centric product concerns stemming from: content hierarchy, mechanical SEO focused descriptions, confusing product labelling and pricing, plus negative feedback from Trustpilot reviewers.

We explored ways to upgrade the customer perception and journey, focusing on three key areas for improvement, each poised to potentially boost conversion rate and actual sales:

  • Redefining brand identity

  • Simple to understand content

  • Clear pricing

The combined approach was packaged and delivered in the form of a minor rebrand, achievable data cleanse, reskin and modernisation of key performing mechanisms and areas of the product.

Product vision

Using design principles informed by performance validated data, we proposed a visually led browsing experience with clear price banding. We introduced 3D illustrations with simple explanations to help demystify product categories, and refined the selection UI to reduce cognitive load and create a more intuitive, gamified experience.

Product illustrations

We created a 3D visual system that mapped product types to real-world spatial cues. Details like enclosed walls signified private floors, glass panels represented private offices, and open panels denoted hot desks. PC type and personal items also illustrated the privacy or ownership of spaces. This flexible system could easily scale with new products or variants.
