Although it was a brief engagement the concept and the triangle motif outlasted the old serif Google logos and is still going strong today.
Branding challenge
Working remotely in a two day window with extremely limited indirect communication with BBH LA’s creative director Pelle Sjoenell. We created and delivered concept visuals for a simple flexible identity system.
In line with Google’s then 2011 brand we felt the instantly recognisable triangle play symbol would be a perfect candidate and align to brand values of relevancy, accessibility and speed.
The icon due to its shape could be utilised in a numerous and flexible ways. In its default state the icon served as a container vessel for Google’s brand colours, in richer states it could lens media from the Google Play store, it also worked locked up with logotype or in isolation.
